Did you know that we launched a Jira integration this past year?
I've been at Vanilla and now Higher Logic for nearly 8 years and I have lost track of how many times I was asked if we supported a Jira integration so to say I was happy when we released this feature would be an understatement.
Per Atlassian, over 65000 companies are using Jira to help streamline tasks, manage sprints, and manage support bugs along with IT/support ticketing. Jira is a versatile software that we see most commonly used by product and development teams but also by support & IT teams.
Even here at our Higher Logic Vanilla, we use Productboard to organize and synthensize all the great product ideas we get from our community but then manage developer sprints and support issues in Jira.
If you're unfamiliar with what our Jira integration does, it allows members with the 'Staff' permission to escalate a post in your community to a Jira project of your choosing.
You can learn more about it here:

Here are some use cases to consider:
- Your Product team uses Jira to manage product feedback. Use Ideation in the community to escalate popular ideas to the relevant issues.
- ProTip: There's a new Automation Rule to change the 'status' of an idea after receiving a certain number of votes. Set a threshold in your community for how many votes it takes for an idea to be sent over to Jira i.e 15 so your community know whens the Product team will look at their ideas.
- Your support team uses Jira to manage bugs and support issues. Escalate the post to the correct Jira project so the right team member can take a look.
- Perhaps you have a part of your community dedicated to Staff. If someone runs into an IT issue, they can ask about it in the community to see if there's a solution and if not, escalate it to IT via the Jira integration.
Here's what it looks like to create an issue:
And here's it attached to a post:
If you missed this new functionality in the release notes and a Jira customer (or considering becoming one) I suggest you check this out!
